There are many resources bloggers can use to build a blog. But, one of the better – and most popular — ones to come along in a long time is WordPress (WP), a content management system. Proof?
According to an official WordPress study taken in the summer of 2011, 92 percent of content developers surveyed (over 18,000 respondents) said that they use WordPress as a CMS, or content management system.
More than nine out of 10 using WordPress? Why is this resource so valuable if you want to build a blog? Following is some insight.
I. WP is PlugIn Rich: There are plugins that can increase your subscriber count (eg, WPouch); entice readers to stay on your page longer (eg, Related Posts); and encourage readers to share your content (eg, AddToAny: Share/Bookmark/Email Buttons).
The longer readers stay on your blog, the more likely they are to become invested in the content and subscribe. The more subscribers your blog has, the more traffic it ostensibly gets and the more money you make. The more subscribers you have, the more your content gets shared. This leads to even more subscribers – and the cycle repeats itself.
See how critical WordPress plugins can be if you want to build a successful blog? And, this is one of the main reasons it’s so popular.
II. Easy to Navigate: Many bloggers are new and not too tech savvy. And, WP is fully aware of this. Hence, the software is easy to use – even for novices. There’s no steep learning curve like with a lot of blogging technology.
This means a newbie can create a blog and learn to update it relatively quickly. This is critical to blogging success because the more complicated a blog platform is, the more likely bloggers are to put off learning it. Hence, the less likely they are to ever start making money online.
III. WP Has Tons of Themes: And, many of them are free. Also, many of the WordPress themes are easy to customize, so a blogger can build a blog with a commonly used theme, but personalize it to fit their business needs relatively easily.
This means no expenditures on an expensive blog designer (which can cost hundreds — or even a few thousand). Because WordPress themes are so popular, it’s easy to find someone to customize a them quickly and affordably. This way, you can start your blogging empire that much sooner.
For all of these reasons — and quite a few more – if you want to build a blog that’ll make you good money, use WordPress as a content management system. You can have a professional, easy-to-operate blog up and going in no time.
